3 Pack Barbless Tan X Caddis Emerging Caddis Adult Fly – Size 14
Premium barbless hooks.
One of the most effective dry flies in the West or anywhere that Caddisflies are prevalent. The X Caddis was created by Craig Matthews of Blue Ribbon Flies in West Yellowstone. This hair wing caddis pattern imitates the emerging adult Caddis as it struggles in the surface film while escaping its nymphal shuck. The X-Caddis rides lower in the water than other Caddis imitations, and is especially effective on slick water or spring creeks.

FAQ
What makes the X Caddis pattern effective in catching caddisflies?
The X Caddis imitates the emerging adult caddis as it struggles in the surface film, escaping its nymphal shuck. It rides lower in the water, making it particularly effective on slick water or spring creeks.
Is the hook barbless and suitable for sensitive fish species?
Yes, the hook is barbless, which reduces injury to fish and is ideal for catch-and-release fishing.
Can this fly be used in both still and moving water?
The X Caddis performs well in slick water and spring creeks, where it rides lower in the water column. It may be less effective in fast-moving, turbulent streams.

Lisa Nolan –
Used this fly on a spring creek and caught several trout. The fly mimics the real caddis well and floats naturally. The barbless hook made it easy to release the fish without damage.
Steven Rutherford –
Good imitation of the emerging caddis. Works well on still water with a light current. The size 14 fits perfectly on my fly line and is easy to tie on.
Ian Miller –
Fished in a quiet pond and saw multiple fish take the fly. The hair wing looks realistic and the barbless design is a plus for catch-and-release.
Fiona Nolan –
The fly works in some conditions but not in very fast water. It may need to be fished with a slight drift. Overall, decent for caddisfly season.
Luke Marshall –
Highly recommended for caddisfly season. The X Caddis is one of the most effective patterns I’ve used. It’s easy to spot and fish, and the barbless hook is a great addition.
