Barbless Tan X Caddis Emerging Caddis Adult Fly – 6 Flies Size 14
Premium barbless hooks.
One of the most effective dry flies in the West or anywhere that Caddisflies are prevalent. The X Caddis was created by Craig Matthews of Blue Ribbon Flies in West Yellowstone. This hair wing caddis pattern imitates the emerging adult Caddis as it struggles in the surface film while escaping its nymphal shuck. The X-Caddis rides lower in the water than other Caddis imitations, and is especially effective on slick water or spring creeks.

FAQ
What makes the X Caddis pattern effective in slick water?
The X Caddis rides lower in the water column, which allows it to mimic the emerging adult caddis as it struggles in the surface film, making it particularly effective on slick water or spring creeks.
Is the hook barbless and suitable for sensitive fish species?
Yes, the hook is barbless, which reduces injury to fish and is ideal for catch-and-release fishing.
Can this fly be used in both still and moving water?
The X Caddis is especially effective in slick water and spring creeks, but can also be used in moving water where caddisflies are present.

Madeleine Vance –
Used this fly on a spring creek and caught several trout. The barbless hook made it easy to release the fish. The fly mimics the real caddis well and floats naturally on the surface.
Stephanie Hill –
Good imitation of the emerging caddis. Works well in low-current areas. The hair wing is durable and the size 14 fits perfectly on my rod.
Evan Murray –
Fished in a quiet stream and saw multiple fish take the fly. The lower profile helps it stay in the right spot. Highly recommended for caddisfly season.
Deirdre Johnston –
The pattern is accurate and the barbless design is a plus. A bit more expensive than other caddis flies, but worth it for the performance.
Leah Howard –
Perfect for early spring when caddis emerge. The fly stays on the surface and fish are actively feeding. Easy to tie and effective in various conditions.
