Barbless Olive X Caddis Emerging Caddis Adult Fly – 6 Flies Size 18
Premium barbless hooks.
One of the most effective dry flies in the West or anywhere that Caddisflies are prevalent. The X Caddis was created by Craig Matthews of Blue Ribbon Flies in West Yellowstone. This hair wing caddis pattern imitates the emerging adult Caddis as it struggles in the surface film while escaping its nymphal shuck. The X-Caddis rides lower in the water than other Caddis imitations, and is especially effective on slick water or spring creeks.

Ava Sharp –
Used this fly on a spring creek and caught several trout. The presentation was natural and the barbless hook made it easy to retrieve. Great for mimicking the emerging caddis behavior.
Sue Roberts –
Felt the fly worked well on slick water. The hair wing gave a realistic look and the barbless design made it easy to fish without tangles.
Alison Lee –
Perfect for targeting caddisfly hatches. The size 18 fits well on my dry fly rig and the low profile helped it stay near the surface where the insects emerge.
Sally Ross –
Caught a few fish on this pattern during a morning drift. It’s subtle and effective when the water is still and the surface film is thin.
Samantha Ball –
Highly recommended for caddisfly season. The X Caddis mimics the struggle of the adult emerging, which triggered strikes from active trout.
