Barbless Tan X Caddis Emerging Caddis Adult Fly – 6 Flies Size 16
Premium barbless hooks.
One of the most effective dry flies in the West or anywhere that Caddisflies are prevalent. The X Caddis was created by Craig Matthews of Blue Ribbon Flies in West Yellowstone. This hair wing caddis pattern imitates the emerging adult Caddis as it struggles in the surface film while escaping its nymphal shuck. The X-Caddis rides lower in the water than other Caddis imitations, and is especially effective on slick water or spring creeks.

FAQ
What makes the X Caddis different from other caddis patterns?
The X Caddis rides lower in the water compared to other caddis imitations and mimics the emerging adult caddis struggling in the surface film as it escapes its nymphal shuck.
Is this fly suitable for slick water or spring creeks?
Yes, the X Caddis is especially effective on slick water or spring creeks due to its lower profile and natural action.
Are the hooks barbed or barbless?
The hooks are barbless, which makes them easier to remove from the fish and reduces injury.

Dan Parr –
Used this fly on a spring creek and caught several trout. The action of the fly as it emerges from the nymphal shuck is very realistic. The barbless hook makes it easy to retrieve and the fly stays on the surface well.
Max Rampling –
Felt the X Caddis worked better than other caddis patterns in low-visibility conditions. It stayed in place and attracted fish on a calm morning. Good for slick water conditions.
Amy Burgess –
The hair wing design looks authentic and the fly performs well in the surface film. I’ve used it in multiple streams and it consistently gets bites, especially when the water is still.
Brandon James –
Caught a good number of fish on this pattern during a morning drift. The barbless hook made it easy to remove the fly after a take. Works well in moderate currents.
Lisa Gibson –
Highly recommended for caddis-heavy waters. The fly mimics the natural emergence perfectly and is effective even on very smooth water surfaces.
