Olive Grub Pattern by Fulling Mill

This olive bushy grub pattern imitates a huge variety of caddis nymphs. The olive colour and the bushy body create awesome texture in the water that fish absolutely love. A great fly for traditional and European nymphing.

Most food sources in rivers are relatively similar, with caddis – in all its guises – being the most prolific. This Olive Grub pattern designed by Kieron Jenkins imitates a case-less caddis perfectly and has been a best selling pattern for many reasons, but most importantly, it simply catches fish. Use this fly on the point of a French or Czech nymphing setup in the larger sizes, or in the smaller sizes it can be easily fished under an indicator.

5 reviews for Olive Grub Fly – Fulling Mill Caddis Nymph Pattern

  1. Hannah Morgan –

Fished this pattern on a slow current in a river and caught several trout. The bushy body and olive color made it stand out in the water. Works well under an indicator in smaller sizes.

  2. Frank Knox –

A reliable pattern for nymphing. Caught fish on size 14 in a Czech-style setup. The texture in the water is very natural and fish respond quickly.

  3. Dylan Smith –

Good performance in moderate current. A bit heavy in size 16, but still effective. Would recommend for caddis nymph imitations.

  4. Pippa Hemmings –

Used it on a French nymphing rig with success. The olive color and bushy body are very realistic. Fish took it on the first cast.

  5. Rose Murray –

Fished in early spring. Caught a few fish on size 12. Works well in the mid-river zones. Slightly more sensitive than expected in still water.
